Another double points finish for Toro Rosso!

The continued efforts to develop and update the Toro Rossos has paid off for Jaime Alguersuari and Sébastien Buemi who made another double points finish in South Korea. Several new parts for the STR6-Ferrari introduced in Japan last week have been fully optimised for Yeongam circuit and the two scuderia’s drivers have taken the opportunity in style. Their best result of the season, with Alguersuari 7th and Buemi 9th, the team is closing the gap with Force India and Sauber in the constructor championship.

The Spaniard has produced a convincing performance matching his finishing position in Monza and finishing behind the three top teams: Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari. Sébastien was not so fortunate at the start after colliding with Kobayashi’s Sauber at the first curve and losing four positions in the process. But the Pain Paillasse ambassador made a consistent race to fight his way up to pass the Williams, Saubers and Force Indias with a decisive overtaking of Paul di Resta. “I am extremely pleased with my race,” said the Vaudois, “the car was very competitive with good top speed down the straight”.

The competition is heating up in the constructor stakes with middle classification teams. With 8 points added to their tally against only one for Force India and nil for Sauber, Toro Rosso can look for a progression in the standing with large financial rewards in perspective. The cars were the fastest of the whole field in the speed trap on the Korean track and this could be determinant on the new Buddh International Circuit in New Delhi. “We are now only a few points off Sauber in the championship and if we continue to work hard, I think we can realistically try and get ahead of them in the remaining races,” added the Swiss.

The Red Bull family can celebrate again after Sebastian Vettel dominated Sunday’s Korean race with the 10th win of the season. With Webber 3rd, Team Principle Christian Horner could join the duo on the podium to collect the Constructor Championship cup.
